Er verwendet vor allem einheimische Hölzer wie Robinie, Eiche, Platane, Linde, Ahorn oder Walnuss, während tropische Hölzer nur selten Verwendung finden. Die Passform der Teile muss zu jeder Jahreszeit perfekt sein, sich an den Wuchs des Holzes anpassen.
