Each canister is a unique piece. Precision-crafted by hand in a high art form. Horst Kontaks' specialty is the wooden canister. Wooden vessels, as well as other objects, take shape in his mind; he sketches them out, searches for that one line, follows an idea – and then it's off to the workshop. Now, bandsaws, lathes, and quality tools come into play. Long timber in simple and straightforward forms, using primarily native woods like robinia, oak, plane, lime, maple, or walnut – tropical woods are rarely used. The alignment of both parts to each other, summer and winter, must match around the clock, closing only in accordance with the wood's growth. The sound when opening entices him to move the lid once again, simple and beautiful.

Jede Dose ein Unikat. Präzise und in hoher Kunst von Hand gefertigt. Horst Kontaks Thema sind Holzdosen. In seinen Gedanken formen sich nicht nur Gefäße aus Holz, sondern auch andere Objekte. Er bringt sie zu Papier, sucht nach einer Linie, folgt einer Idee – und dann beginnt die Arbeit in der Werkstatt. Dort kommen Bandsäge, Drechselbank und hochwertiges Werkzeug zum Einsatz. Er verwendet vor allem einheimische Hölzer wie Robinie, Eiche, Platane, Linde, Ahorn oder Walnuss, während tropische Hölzer nur selten Verwendung finden. Die Passform der Teile muss zu jeder Jahreszeit perfekt sein, sich an den Wuchs des Holzes anpassen. Selbst das Geräusch beim Öffnen der Dose inspiriert ihn dazu, den Deckel erneut zu bewegen, einfach und schön.
Jede Dose ist ein einzigartiges Kunstwerk.
